Math-Net - A Short Overview
Math-Net Services and Math-Net Pages
Math-Net Pages are the basis for the service
Navigator. Let us
have a look at this service.
All institutional Math-Net Members are listed in the Navigator and linked by their Math-Net Pages.
The Navigator provides different views of the institutions: the institutions are sorted by different
criteria, e.g. countries or cities. Moreover, it is possible to have a view on the subgroups of the
Math-Net Page, e.g. Preprints/Publications, which is generated by an analysis of the existing
Math-Net Pages.
It provides also the addresses of the information coordinators of the institutions.
The different views will be generated directly and automatically from the Math-Net
Pages.
Math-Net Services combine the information provided by the Math-Net Members and further Web resources. The existing
Math-Net Services adressed on theleft margin of the Math-Net Page
- SIGMA is a search engine covering all information
provided by the Math-Net Members. This service is maintained by ZIB Berlin.
- MPRESS is the largest index and search engine for mathematical preprints.
MPRESS is maintained by IWI Osnabrück.
- PERSONA MATHEMATICA is a search engine for
information about people (This service is restricted to Germany at the moment. It is the aim to expand this services to a
directory of mathematicians for the whole world). PERSONA MATHEMATICA is maintained currently by the
Mathematical Insitute of the Uniciversity of Cologne
- Math Links provide a collection of Web sites relevant for mathematics. Math Links are maintained by
ZIB Berlin.
- eJournals is an search engine about the free available
information of mathematical journals. eJournals is maintained by IWI
Osnabrück.
Math-Net Member Associations can provide further services. At present,
only the German/Austrian Math-Net Member Association provides math-net.de services.
The Math-Net Initiative
All Math-Net activities are coordinated by the Committee on Electronic Information
and Communication (CEIC) of the International Mathematical
Union (IMU). The Math-Net Technical Advisory Board
(TAB) is responsible for the technical strategy, the technical
development and standards for Math-Net.
