A Short Guide to Create a Math-Net Page
We suggest that the Math-Net Page of an institution be installed by the information coordinator who is designated by the
institution to participate in the Math-Net Initiative. The information coordinator is expected to stay in
contact with the Math-Net Initiative.
- Open the URL http://www.math-net.org/pagemaker with your browser.
- Select the type (department or research institute) for your institution.
- Click on the button "create a Math-Net Pages with standard labels".
- Choose the option "asIs" for the character encoding.
- Insert the required data in the form:
- Mandatory fields are the data of the information coordinator, the names of the institution and the URL's of the Web server
of your institution. Also, you have the possibility to embed a local search engine. For this task you should ask your
sytem administrator for help.
- Local links are the core of the information. Please try to link all relevant information that your institution provides to the
Math-Net Page.
- The Math-Net Page uses some images, e.g., the Math-Net Logo. Please decide if you want to store these images locally.
- Generate the Math-Net Page with the Create button at the bottom of the form.
- Check all links, possibly re-edit the Math-Net Page.
- Download the Math-Net Page or request the Math-Net Page to be sent by e-mail
- Install the Math-Net Page at the Web server of your institution at the proposed location.
- If you want to create further Math-Net Pages with other labels and/or in other languages please go again to
the start window and click on the button "create a Math-Net Page with alternative labels".
- In order to make your new Math-Net Page available from the international Math-Net Navigator
please send an information to
math-net@zib.de providing the URL of your new page. Please also send an
e-mail if you were unable to install the Math-Net Page. We will try to help. If you have suggestions for improving this process,
please let us know.
